Volunteer Role Description

Power Soccer PDX is an adaptive soccer program designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users serving athletes aged five and older with disabilities. Power soccer volunteers serve these athletes as one-to-one supports or in groups. This volunteer position requires individuals who enjoy working with people, will have consistent attendance of practices, and who understand soccer is for all! Volunteers report to the Head Coach.

Responsibilities
  • Attend volunteer training(s)
  • Assist with unloading and loading equipment from vehicle or trailer
  • Help with setting-up and taking-down equipment for drills and scrimmages
  • Help attaching guards and mounts to athletes wheelchairs
  • Assist with positioning straps and seat belts on athletes chairs
  • Assist athletes with turning on/off their fans and or wheelie bars
  • Follow the practice session agenda as posted
  • Promote the safety and well-being of athletes
  • Assist athletes in engaging with session content
  • Retrieve or pass and place the soccer balls
  • Perform other roles relating to on-court proceedings as requested
Requirements
  • Volunteers must be age 16 or older
  • Possess a passion for soccer and a desire to help others
  • Must have active listening and communication skills
  • Must be willing to learn and adapt to situations
  • Attend all practice dates and time, trainings, etc. in there eternity
  • Maintain the privacy and secure use of players private information
  • Have reliable transportation /Willingness to travel within the Portland metro area
