The start of a new season is just around the corner, with the new season comes bigger goals. Last year was a big year for us, we saw growth beyond our own beliefs along with that growth. We also saw areas that needed improvement. This year we are changing some of our practice and coaching procedures to help facilitate the improvements needed.
In 2023 we were able to join the United States Power Soccer Association as a competitive team alongside our recreational team. Although we only attended one tournament in Sacramento California, we were able to meet that season’s requirements to become eligible to participate in the National Tournament in 2024 If we are able to complete eight games.
While at the tournament in California in 2023, the team was pulled aside by the head referee of the tournament, many of the athletes entered this time unsure and a little nervous about what the referee might say, as it turns out, he had nothing but good things to say about our team and how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time.
Last month a couple of our athletes were fortunate enough to be able to attend the USPSA power soccer camp in Maple Lake Minnesota. Both of these athletes agree that it was a memory that they will cherish forever! Not only did they get to learn from some of the best players in the US but they also made many friends from around the world while learning a lot along the way gaining a whole new perspective on the game of Power Soccer in general!
We are working very hard to prepare for the possibility of hosting our own tournament here in the Portland area during the 2024 season. We would like to share some of Oregon’s beauty with our friends from down south. and also to have a chance to showcase our great sport to our local friends and family.
